Class #4 Class Summary

Inspiration/Kidspiration/Photoshop Elements
Kidspiration and Inspiration are two programs that I have had little experience with. Most of the procedures we discussed seemed similar to SmartIdeas. I enjoy using these organizational programs at the start of web design class. It is an easy way for the students to organize the structure of a web site without them having to know much about the web design software.\
Photoshop Elements is a cool editing software. I became more familiar with using the stamp tool and the magnetic selection tool. I enjoy using Elements in the classroom, the only problem I have run into is students editing other students pictures in inappropriate or a hurtful ways. This is humerous between adults or friends, but can be taken the wrong way by sensitive students. But Elements usually is a great tool for students to create customize clipart/pictures.

Class #3 Summary

Advanced Powerpoint
Class tonight covered hyperlinks and action buttons, slide design, and inserting different types of multimedia. I have been able to work a lot with PowerPoint, so the general procedures for each topic was familiar to me. I did get to see new ways to work with each topic. The topic of action buttons was interesting to me because of the set way to organize your slides when doing a multiple choice slide show (Who Want To Be A Millionare). I have organized my shows that way in order to use the "previous slide" action button, but never really thought about giving the students a precise way to organize their shows (e.g. Wrong Answer Slide at end). So that will help in the teaching of my students.

Class #1 Summary & Article Review

Tonights class we covered blogs, reasons for technology in the classroom, and using the technology as a supplement to curriculum (curiculum drives the technology).

I have not used blogs in the past, but have searched through a few here and there. I like the simple, quick use of blogger.com and think that using blogs in a class setting would be great! Also, on the technology side of education I am motivated to show the students how to create a blog in order to see what many people are doing with technology today. The only concern would be controlling the content that students view.

I agree with using technology in the classroom. I firmly believe that it does increase student's motivation. In my classes, I use the technology to allow students who work quickly and advance at a faster rate to push themselves further while I help the students who are moving at a slower rate.
